Our aim is to build global partnerships and boost the Maldives’ fish export industry. We specialize in tuna, grouper, and reef fish. Currently, we work with EU-certified factories, with plans to build our own by 2020 for enhanced service and quality assurance.
The Maldives pole-and-line yellowfin fishery has been operating for centuries and has been the lifeline of the Maldivian economy since before the boom of the tourism industry in the mid 1970s.
Yellow FIN Tuna
Yellowfin Tuna is one of the most popular fish in Maldives and yellowfin tuna is among the larger tuna species in the Indian Ocean. Yellowfin tunas are found worldwide in tropical and subtropical waters. There is a good demand for locally produced Yellowfin Tuna (Kelavalla) exports and domestically. Exports are mainly to Europe, US, Japan. Depending on the size of the calf, it can range from 25kg to 90kg but these fish can grow up to 150kg. These fish are mainly caught for the multi-day boats.

A unique and popular aspect of the fishery is that all the boats are owned by Maldivian families that support fishing communities, so the proceeds from the catch sales supports the livelihood of the outer island communities of the Maldives.
